Celebrating 60 Years of Hydor
By Elta Group
For 60 years, Hydor has been known for excellence in design applications, leading the field in the design and technical innovation of its products for agriculture.
Established in 1963 by Colin Hyde, Hydor was formed with a desire to create better ventilation solutions for British farmers. Hydor was founded on the principles of innovation, quality, and a deep understanding of agricultural needs. Over the decades, these values have remained at the heart of everything we do.
From the outset, Hydor distinguished itself by addressing the specific requirements of the agricultural sector. Colin Hyde’s vision led to the creation of groundbreaking products, such as the High Performance (HP) fan, the AgriJet Roof Unit, and the Sidewall Unit. These innovations not only met the unique challenges of agricultural ventilation but also set new industry benchmarks.
By the late 1960s and 1970s, Hydor was exporting products worldwide, from the Sahara to the jungles of Mauritius and from Iceland to Australia. Remarkably, many of those early fans are still operational today, a testament to Hydor’s engineering excellence.
In 2003, Hydor joined Elta Group, marking the beginning of an exciting new era. Elta Group recognised agriculture as a crucial sector within the ventilation industry and saw Hydor as the perfect partner to expand their offerings. Together, we have leveraged our shared expertise to push boundaries, providing tailored ventilation solutions to enhance the welfare of livestock and the efficiency of farming operations.
Today, Hydor stands as the oldest company within Elta Group, embodying a legacy of resilience, innovation, and engineering excellence. The growth of Hydor comes down to the committed team we have, and the desire to fully understanding our customer’s needs, to produce top quality products in all agriculture markets.
60 years later, we are still operating in the same fashion; talking to farmers about their issues and developing a solution for their needs.
