Remembering Glen Harries

20/04/22

We’re saddened to announce the passing of Glen Harries, Co-Founder of Fantech in Australia.

Glen founded and built Air & Noise Equipment, later becoming Fantech, with Jack Pirie from the ground up in 1973, initially from a bedroom in Glen’s house. Together they built the company from virtually nothing but a passion for providing customers with the highest quality products and services.

Using their notable engineering skills and talent for design, Fantech began developing products of its own. Fantech soon had several product successes including the Minivent roof unit.

Glen and Jack’s commitment and dedication enabled a once small start-up fan business to become one of the most respected commercial fan and air movement companies in Australia and New Zealand, before joining Elta Group in 1997.

Glen retired from his position as Director of Fantech soon after but continued contributing his wealth of knowledge and experience for more than ten years.

Glen was a pragmatic businessman and an astute engineer who loved his work and enjoyed making people laugh. Those who spent time with Glen knew him as a fantastic mentor and a great friend.

Jack described Glen as the most logically minded person he had ever come across and that he had the most analytical way of dealing with problems. Glen was highly respected in the industry and was loved by his customers and the many people he worked with.

The entire group offers our condolences and offers our best wishes to his family.
