Ray Ball set out with a singular vision, £130 in cash, a second mortgage and £650 from the sale of his beloved Rolls-Royce – and, from this, he ultimately founded a group that would span four continents. Discover his story here.

It all began in the ‘Swinging Sixties’. As the world was changing all around us with colour TVs and the invention of the audio cassette, not to mention Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin becoming the first men on the moon, the foundations of our group were established.
In the same decade that the digital camera, the pocket calculator and the floppy disc were invented, our founders were also creating new and inventive products.
In the decade that Microsoft Windows, the first digital mobile phone and the CD-ROM were invented, our businesses made a fair few product releases as well.
The past two decades saw a great deal of growth within the group; more and more members were added to the business throughout the 1990s, increasing the company’s reach and overall success. Notably, the group expanded its reach to the other side of the world with companies joining from Australia. This all happened in the decade where eBay was founded, the Hubble telescope was launched and the Euro was introduced.
We pride ourselves on staying ahead of the curve through innovation and expansion, and the 2000s really lived up to those philosophies. In the same period, Apple went on to introduce the iPod, Google floated on the stock market, and YouTube was launched. It’s fair to say it was an eventful time.
From humble beginnings, Elta Group grew into an international player, with businesses in Europe, Australasia and Asia. In fact, our axial impeller range is manufactured right across the group to the same exacting standards instilled in the business by our founders.
