The 2014 British Pig & Poultry Fairi saw the introduction of a new name in common and bespoke solutions for the poultry farming industry with the launch of The Poultry Hut.
The two day exhibition provided an ideal platform to show a selection from the wide range of products available from the new business. Part of the Elta Group of companies, The Poultry Hut shared the stand of sister company and agricultural ventilation specialists Hydor. Together, the businesses provided an impressive offering for visitors to what is regarded as one of the most important events in the farming calendar. Zoe Rawson, Managing Director of The Poultry Hut said – “The remit of the business is to become the first port of call for the poultry farmer. Collectively, the team has wide ranging experience and understanding of the poultry industry and we want to bring that to bear in servicing this important sector of British farming. The products that we offer are extensive, but if it’s not available from our stock products then we are able to source it. It is very much an approach focused on providing bespoke solutions, whatever the need.”
Products available range from feeding and drinking systems through to water treatment and disinfectants – with pretty much everything in between – to provide the optimum environment for rearing poultry. Many of the products are designed, tested and evaluated by The Poultry Hut to ensure maximum quality and cost effectiveness. One product which drew significant interest at the show was the AquaBlend, a system designed to medicate or treat water in livestock watering systems designed to provide excellent performance while also ensuring simplicity in operation and maintenance. The system, manufactured in the UK by Hydro Systems, injects precise quantities of liquid nutrients, pharmaceuticals, chemicals or cleaning agents into a poultry flock’s water. It is quick and easy to install and requires no tools for maintenance, with the entire medicator able to be taken apart by hand for cleaning or maintenance in less than 30 seconds with a simple turn counterclockwise providing access.
The AquaBlend is designed to handle both liquid chemicals and wettable powders, with two adjustable ration models available: 0.4%-2% and 1%-5%. In comparison with other medicator systems, AquaBlend has achieved excellent results with the 1%-5% model offering a much larger injection range; making it much more accurate at the most popular 1% setting.
