Long-serving agricultural expert, Sarah Knights, co-founder of poultry livestock services business, Bowden & Knights, has announced her retirement following 40 years in the industry.
She will be handing the baton over to Sam Coulson who has been appointed as Operations Manager, reporting to Andrew Mann, General Manager of the agricultural brands within Elta Group.
Bowden & Knights was established in 2003 by Mike Bowden and Sarah Knights. Since then, the company has become a market-leader in poultry health, hygiene and housing. It now sits within the wider Elta Group alongside brands All Agri, Animal Aids, FarmTech Services and Hydor.
Sarah has spent her last few months helping the business prepare for growth as it takes on additional warehouse space in Thetford, Norfolk where the business is based. This will aim to provide an extra 50 percent capacity so they can address the fallout of the ongoing Brexit challenges with added supply chain resilience. As such, it will be able to hold more stocks of core farming consumables such as chemicals, detergents, disinfectants, ventilation and lighting equipment.
Sam brings 10 years’ experience in the farming industry, most recently working for an agricultural wholesaler, and is applying this knowledge to ensure a smooth transition for customers against a challenging economic backdrop. He says: “One of the things I love the most about this industry is dealing directly with farmers so I can help uncover any unique challenges they are facing and provide tailored advice, products and services.
